I have diarrhoea. My tummy started feeling funny yesterday, and then early this morning it all broke loose. Anyway, I’m going with the theory that I’ve got some mild food poisoning. Question is, what can I do to stop it? I’m drinking warm water, as suggested by my mum, but I’m also getting tummy cramps now, nothing too severe but strong enough for me to pop pain killers.
Is there anything I can eat to stop this?
Answer:
You don't want to stop the diarrhea because your body is trying to get rid of something bad.

Your guts are trying to expel poison and you should leave them to it.
Taking oral rehydration salts is a good way to prevent you becoming dehydrated or your blood becoming diluted and short of electrolytes.
These an be bought in the the pharmacy and taken with water.
You can also eat foods rich in potasium (like bananas) and drink fruit juice diluted with water and a generous pinch of salt and a spoonful of sugar to give you the glucose and Na Cl- you need to stop you getting electrolyte dilution.
It's likely you are getting stomach cramps because its working hard to push the poison out.
Avoid eating foods rich in calories because they will feed the bacteria but you should be safe with fruit or fruit juice provided its washed and peeled.
Answer:
Lay off the pain killers. They're murder on a bad tummy and can make things worse.
Chamomile and mint herbal tea (not the kind that has black/caffeinated tea in it). You can add honey if you want. Those will re-hydrate you, relax your cramps, but still allow your body to let go.
