I've been making my own soap from scratch for many years and I really love Kathy Miller's site: http://www.millersoap.com/

Making soap from scratch isn't for everyone, though. To make soap, you need to use lye (sodium hydroxide–which is no longer readily available under the Red Devil label, unfortunately).

If you don't see yourself as a budding chemist, a good substitute could be to buy a ready-made “melt-and-pour” organic soap base and mix in whatever natural additives (scents, colors, textured things) suit your fancy.

Answer:
Find a good recipe for soup.

Then purchase only organic ingredients.

Salt and such don't have to be organic.
