Hi Sweetie, besides the usual mega doses of Vitamin C, i have heard that Olive Leaf Extract is good for fighting off viruses, flu etc. It is supposed to be superior than Vit C and fast-acting too. It is quite high-priced but so are other over-the-counter flu remedies. I haven't tried it myself. When i get a virus i increase my dose of Vit C to 4000mg a day, and i never seem to suffer as badly as the rest of my family!!
Get well very soon. ![]()

It sounds similar to what I have. I recently had a terrible cold, then immediately caught another one. I too had a lot of congestion and runny eyes. The viruses are self limiting. There are no remedies. Take paracetamol for pain relief and/or temperature, push fluid intake and get rest. It will pass soon.
You could take Lempsip, which contains paracetamol and phenylephrine hydrochloride (a decongestant), the latter will help with congestion. Do bear in mind that you cant take phenylephrine hydrochloride if you’ve high blood pressure.

hi, what you have is influenza, which is caused by a pathogen which is a fancy name for the flu. It is horrible but all you can do is sleep, take sudafed, paracetamol, Herbal remedies. I would use Vixs and vapor rubs take some sleeping pills. You put vix in boiling hot water and breathe it in quite useful but I burnt my chin so maybe not. wikipedia methods and blow your nose often and spit out extra flem.

it might not be a cold you have it sounds more like allergies especially if your eyes are weeping also. its the time of year where allergies begin. go to your local pharmacy and see what the pharmacist recomends. x

jeeze sounds like you're having a rough time! it sucks being so miserable with cold and flu
i can imagine that the virus kind of wiped you out so it's not a surprise that you're sick again now. what may help is to give your immune system a good boost to help you recover. Echinacea is a great herbal supplement that you can pick up at any health food shop or pharmacy these days - i usually take in in tincture form, meaning that you put a couple of drops of it into a glass of water and drink it down. it's said to be very good for your immune system and i find that it helps me to get over a cold quicker. it would probably also be helpful to take a vitamin C supplement right now too.
you might like to also make some ginger tea, made simply a home
get some root ginger, peel and chop it. boil up a pot of water on the stove and add the ginger when the water is actually boiling. let the ginger simmer away for about 15 mins in the water then strain the tea into a cup. add some freshly squeezed lemon juice and a teaspoon or two of honey and drink. it's great for colds & will give you a nice warm boost when you're feeling miserable.
to help with congestion in your sinuses then steaming is really great (i love this one when i'm all blocked up!). fill a basin with some boiling water and add a couple of drops of Po Ho oil if you can get it ( http://www.avogel.co.uk/avogel-world-new… ) - i find Po Ho works ideal, it's very powerful. if you can't find any in your local health food shops/pharmacy then just use eucalyptus oil or tea tree oil as they also work quite well. once you've added the oil to the water then place your face over the basin and cover your head and the basin with a towel so that all the steam is being directed towards your face. breathe in the steam deeply and it will help to ease the congestion. if you're really bad then you might like to do this a couple of times a day.
other than that just try to rest up lots if you've been so sick. your physician might give you a sick note to take some time off from work to rest? hang out on the couch with a hot water bottle and chill out
remember to drink plenty of fluids and eat well and remember to take care of yourself! i hope you feel good soon xx
