I noticed that there was a question with some really good answers “Where do you draw the line at your credulity?” that's disappeared. I had it saved on my computer though as I thought that might happen since some of the answers broke Y!A rules (personal insults).

Anyone noticed any other questions disappearing in this section?

Answer:
Quacks outnumber logical people in here, so sceptical answers and questions get removed more often than ones about boom shak a lak.

I don't think it really matters; most people who read the Qs & As do so in the first few hours after they are posted.

Answer:
My entire day is spent giving medical advice to people.

It's a change of pace for me to give it to those who really don't want to hear it, and who rarely see, or are antagonistic to evidence based medicine and science. Report Abuse

Answer:
To those of you who are regulars here it is good that both sides are left posted. I asked my first question in alt. med. The answers that opposed the test I was asking about helped me tremendously. It made me do deeper research so that I could know who to believe. Alternative medicine gets a mad rap because of the anything goes attitude. To keep it legitimate you need the skeptics. This helps those of us who have tired traditional medicine and needs new answers but are not ready to throw caution to the wind.

Name calling does reduce the validity of your view. To be most effective use facts not insults if you want to help the people that need to hear both sides.

Answer:
As David G mentioned, the few of us who hang out here from the rational point of view are badly outnumbered. And you're correct, there were several really good answers to it, which generated a lot of debate (probably somebody reported it as chatting) He's also correct in that nobody really seems to look at old questions anyway, as they keep asking the same damn ones over and over.

In my own case (since that was my question !!) I do have a number of stalkers who routinely report my answers and occasional question. Whatever…theres' a lot of immature types here who don't deal well with being challenged for their outlandish ideas and claims.

Am I frank, opinionated, and piss off delusional Alties?…you bet.

Are my answers fact based and backed up by evidence…always.

Do I actually violate any of Y!A's precious guidelines.?…I may approach the line, but I never cross it, and I've never stooped to the juvenile name calling of some of my detractors.

This forum isn’t really about being fair, open, and an exchange of points of view, or about giving fence sitters access to information to make up their own minds. Much like the Religion&Spirituality section, it has been hijacked by those who only want to hear one side of the issue, and only want to talk to people who believe the exact same things.

The AltMed zealots don't want their dubious delusions of healing powers challenged with actual facts
