How much does it cost to have a lower wisdom tooth removed on the NHS?

Does it make a difference if the tooth is impacted, or embedded?

Many thanks.

Answer:
It would cost;

* £44.60 if it was a normal extraction, and it was booked beforehand. ie if you had a check-up first and they advised extraction of the wisdom tooth. the whole course of treatment will be £44.60 including the checkup and any other treatment you might need for example scale and polish etc.

* £16.20 if you went as an emergency case for just a one off appointment (classed as urgent/emergency treatment)

* If the tooth is very impacted and your regular dentist can’t do it in the surgery, they may refer you to hospital or a specialist surgical dentist, this might be NHS or private depending on where you decide to go. but if you go somewhere NHS then no it being impacted makes no difference to the cost - £44.60.

All this assuming you don't have any exemptions, ie matenity, tax credits, income support, disability, if you do it would all be free.

Hope this helps :)

Answer:
You should just ring your dentist and they'll tell you. If you're a student or under 18, you should be able to get it for free.

Sheesh…i wasn't saying you were stupid if you hadn't already rang the dentist. It may cost you a different amount than other people as they may need to do more to your teeth. No need to be rude

Answer:
If you’re advised to go to a hospital for surgery, as my daughter was, nothing but when I had mine out a year ago, at the dentist I was charged the minimum fee It is about £15-16 pounds at present.

Answer:
If your under 18 it should be free
Dunno if your older
