I’ve just had four fillings afetr not going to dentist for a year and a half. My dentist states that a lot of my decay is inbetween the teeth so is complicated. He stated that the fillings i have had is juts phase one and in 3 months if the decay has progressed he’ll have to drill, drill, drill. What does this mean - root canals? I do hope not. I now use mouthwash and brush thoroughly using brush and small brush to get between teeth. What are your predictions and advice?
Answer:
Well,I am going through something similar.Mine is a tiny more complicated but I hadn’t gone to a dentist in about 12 years. The fillings I had, under them was decay. The dentist I went to stated that I might of needed root canals on my bottom teeth but he would try to make it so I didn't.Well he pulled out the old fillings and drilled out the decay.I was fortunate enough to not need root canals on any of the teeth he fixed.Basically he pulled the old fillings, drilled out the under decay and filled them.
He told me the ideal bet was to brush at least 2 minutes, perhaps 3 if time permits.Floss, use Listerine mouthwash and stay away from energy drinks and soda and if you must have these drinks,to swish your mouth with water after drinking them….I would go ahead and let him drill and refill the teeth…my one back tooth was black on the side,he removed the filling, drilled, filled it and then reshaped the tooth so the decay was gone.I feel so much better and you’ll too!…it does cost some money but your health is more important!
Answer:
ive had a root canal before.
its not as bad as u think.
i was terrified when i found out but you can hardly feel it:)
first of all they numb your mouth. so u cant feel anything.
so dont worry about it if you do get a root canal.
its not so bad:)
basically brush your teeth at least twice a day. do that for a couple minutes. its important to floss also. stay away from really sweet things like soda, candy especially taffy or something sticky like that. if you do drink soda, it helps if you drink it threw a straw.
but dont worry, whatever happens, its only going to benefit you. and remember, root canals are not all that bad!
hope that helped:)
Answer:
lAhhhhh,,,”If they decay has progressed?”…Is he saying that he's going to wait and see if the existing decay gets worse??? No way can he mean that….I hope. If you have decay any place it needs to be taken care of right now, not three months from now…waiting could certainly mean the difference between a filing and a root canal…if indeed the decay is granted to progress….If I have it right according to what you have stated…I would be looking for another DDS. Good luck and I wish you well.
