I have very sore tense jaw muscles each day. I wake up ok, but it gets worse as the day goes on and is worse at night.
I have seen a dentist who sent me to a specialist and he thought i grind my teeth although it is worse at night NOT in the morning. Nothing has helped this pain and soreness and even my dentist does not think i grind my teeth. Any ideas as to what else could cause this muscle sensitivity and soreness at all.
Answer:
No , I think if it had been TMJ it most definitely would have been diagnosed by you dentist,TMJ can be effectively treated by the use of a splint worn during the night & exercises to relieve the pain & tension, Sounds to me like you are clenching your teeth through the day without realising it which will cause similar symptoms. trick is to realise when you’re doing it & what causes you to do it. You need to return to your dentist & express your concerns. Good luck.
Answer:
You might have TMJ so I'd see your physician. Also, do you’ve an over bite or underbite, or misaligned jaws? This can cause friction in the joints of your jaw. If so, you would most likely need a 'functional appliance brace', such as a Twin-Block appliance, Bionator, or Herbst appliance. These hold your jaws in the correct position, so that your body adapts to it. They’re a very bulky, un-aesthetically amusing appliance, but may relieve your pain.
If I were you, I'd see your doctor and ask for a referrall to an orthodontist.
Answer:
Ouch! yes - lots of emotional pain in peoples' faces. Most “TMJ” is emotional in nature. This is your opportunity to try to comprehend the emotions which are tightening up your facial muscles.
Answer:
It sounds like temporo mandibular displacement which is very common among young women around the ages of 17 - 25. It caused me no end of grief, and I just had to ride it out until it dissapated…
