Orlistat has met with some success, it does result in sustained weight loss in a percentage of patients, it also lowers blood sugar and cholesterol as a bonus. However the effects tend to tail off after a while, with no further loss. You need to eat a low fat diet and exercise while using it. It tends to have some striking side effects, mainly associated with explosive bowel habit! On the plus side it is non-addictive and systemically inert, its action is local on the enzymes in the gut..

Answer:
I was on it 5yrs ago and lost 3 stone in a year. You just have to be careful of your fat content in the foods that you eat. There is a help line number that should come with the tablets that gives out a folder with recipes and success of other users. They ring you a couple of weeks after starting the tablets to see how you are

Getting on. You can also ring them for advice in office hours.

Of which times may have changed since i was on them. Good luck.

Answer:
Yes I used them but as they were very expensive at the time my doctor would only prescribe them for a short time and the weight just crept back on.
