When i do a weights work out my body is a lot more achy afterwards than when i do a cardio workout, like a run.
Why is this? I work more and sweat more when i do cardio, but the day after a weights session i am aching.
Answer:
There are different energy systems in your body at work. When you are working with weights you are tearing muscle down a little and it hurts, there’s also lactic acid build up in the muscle. When we work hard with weights, we reach that lactic acid state swiftly. Power movements really get your body to work hard without oxygen.
Oxygen is needed to get that lactic acid out of there. When you are running, you are taking in more oxygen, you are keeping your heart rate up and using more oxygen, this takes that lactic acid away. You also do not tear up muscle tissue.
Sweat is your way to cool down and has nothing to do with how sore you get!
Answer:
When you lift weights, you are tearing and ripping the fibres in your muscles. They then start to heal and repair them fibres which is why the muscle grows bigger. If you think about it, just about all that process isn’t the ideal feeling in the world, even if sometimes its addictive.
Where as with jogging, that process does not take place, or to a lesser extent.
