I was suffering from a pain in my hip so the doc sent me for an X-ray. When I went to get the results I was told I had bone degeneration and also scoliosis, there was no treatment other than to load up on painkillers and keep active. Is this term “bone degeneration” just a sop, do I really have osteoporosis but they don't want to diagnose it as that because then they would have to prescribe more expensive medication? I'm only asking because whenever I try to find out more about bone degeneration all I turn up is osteporosis. It's still hurting too. Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated, ta!
Answer:
u dont mention yr age, my daughter age 24 has osteoporosis in her back due to high doses of steroids over the years for crohns. however they stated they wouldnt treat till she was 25 as thats when yr bone density reaches its full amount. she just has to take calcium and painkillers if necessary. it wouldnt just be the cost of the medication they’ve a lot of side effects and are a bit of a pain to take as there are lot of rules u have to follow like u have to stay standing up for 1/2 hr after taking it, u cant eat for x amount of time before and after taking it.
Answer:
i'm sure they would hve told you if you had osteoperosis, or osteopenia (the stage before osteoperosis) becuase you would need to take calcium supplements and stuff. I don't think they cannot tell you if your diagnised with something. I recommend you make and appointment with your GP and voice your concerns and ask them to explain whats wrong to you.
Good luck!
