a elderly lady i care for sits in a wheel chair for at least 12 hours a day, and she suffers badly with a itchy back, she also has raised small lumps on her back! any advice to help ease her problem would be great

Answer:
There may be underlying pathology so it is important that you help her to arrange to see her GP. However often investigation reveals no other pathology than the tendency of the ageing skin to be itchy aided and abetted by getting sweaty sitting in the wheelchair.

Her GP will prescribe some suitable topical preparations and perhaps some antihistamines.

Just put some savlon cream and prop her forward while holding her every once in a while for relief.

She needs to see a dermatologist. It could be an allergy. Lanacaine might help stop the itching.
