I'm terrified of catching it and my Nan has had it in the last week, her worst day being Sunday but she's fine now. She was away at the time but she came home when she felt superior, and now I'm going over hers tonight for her birthday but I'm scared I'll catch the bug. How can I make sure I don't?
Answer:
If she was sick and you’re going to her home, your best bet is to wash your hands well and often. Wash before you eat, after you use the restroom (use a tissue to push the flushing handle and toss it in as the water goes down) and don't touch your mouth, nose or eyes unless you wash your hands immediately before.
Of course, all this will be for naught if your Nan doesn't practice good hygeine herself and is preparing food for you. A very common way to transmit the norovirus is when someone who is still shedding the viruses (and the viruses are shed for about 2 weeks after having it) in their poo, and they don't wash their hands well enough after going and/or before preparing food.
Don't worry, a Happy Birthday hug won't make you sick.
Wash your hands the minute you get home, too, just for good measure!
Good luck!
Answer:
The stomach virus has to actually be ingested to catch it, to avoid it keep washing your hands and don't at any food or drink which she has prepared at the moment. That's all you can do really.
Answer:
you can't…it depends on your own immunity system!
both my daughter's had it & were really sick with it…they passed it on to their friends, their dad & their grandparents…it has been a rough couple of weeks…but i didn't get it.
Answer:
Just as Rhianna ( Hi sweetie see you later kiss kiss) has just said, there are no guaranteed ways to avoid catching it. However dedication to cleanliness and frequent hand washing decrease the danger.
