I have had a spot on my bum cheek for 2 months and it will not go. Have used t.c.p and creams but no good. Is slightly raised, bright red and size of snooker cue tip. Any ideas please. Don't want to bother a doc for this. Thanks

Sounds like a strawberry naevus…not sure if that's the right spelling but it's just a normal sort of mark/spot that some people get. If I'm right then the spot will be painless and won't itch. In fact, if you hadn't seen it, you wouldn't even know it was there. They don't go away, but they are as natural as moles and freckles. If it is sore or grows more massive, you will need to see a physician…it could be an infected hair follicle. It is very, very unlikely to be anything to worry about. Have a look on google images…see if 'strawberry naevus' matches your spot and perhaps read up on it a bit.

Obviously don't be freaked out by the bigger haemangiomas…they look scary and do interfere with a patient's life, but a small spot should not be a problem. I'll try to narrow the search down for you…brb

To be honest, I can't immediately find a good site. Search on the NHS Direct website or the 'atlas of dermatology'…superior still, just see a Dr to put your mind at ease….even I was scared by the websites!!!
