Answer:
A persistent cough which gets worse at night can be an indication of asthma. Cough preparations which you purchase OTC are of no therapeutic value and will basically not work (as is evident in this case).
Ask your wife to make an appointment with her GP.
Answer:
Could be asthma or allergies, as many others have replied, but it could also be something more serious like sleep apnea or CHF (congestive heart failure). You didn't give any background on your wife, such as weight or other health problems, so it's hard to guess. I would advocate going to see the doc and get an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan!
Good Luck!
Answer:
Is she sitting up corner pillow? thats what helps me or honey in tea? that helps
Errm make sure her backs covered at night because if shes getting a cold back that can cause it,
Other than that go to docotr see what they’ve to say
If she's a smoker? then really she shud either stop it all together or cut down because my father had this and his was due to smoking he also has it bad in the mornin but since slicing down to care about 3 a day its helped a lot. and with snoring too

Here are a few easy home remedies that’ll help to overcome cough. Ask her to have honey in a hot drink before bed time.Use a infusion of ginger thrice a day. Suck a whole clove without chewing it to soothe a cough. Apples bring a great relief to a person with dry cough. To relieve fits of coughing due to dryness in the throat, suck a few pepper corns. I had a similar problem with an ex of mine. she went to the doctor and found out she had asthma, so she got an inhaler and we got anti-allergy bedding that seemed to do the trick.
Answer:
It's quite likely that she has asthma or alternatively an allergy to something, she should go to the Doctor and get it checked out.
Answer:
she probably is allergic which closes her nose down and forces her at night to breathe through her mouth. this in turn causes her throat to get slightly inflamed and hence the cough.
Answer:
Put her in the spare room if you’ve one - After putting up with her all day its not fair you have to do it all night as well.
Answer:
Tell her to sleep downstairs, or use ear muffs.
