To make fat people thin, we could place them in a coma for a few days to a few months on a healthy ultra-low calorie diet by tube.

Is this a good idea?

Answer:
i'm sorry but this is just plain ignorant.

just because they aren't eating anything doesn't mean they won't gain weight. they won't be getting any excersize at all so they'll be just plain skin and bones and no muscle. the muscles that they did have would totally turn into fat because they aren't moving at all and putting a person in a coma when they’re perfectly healthy? are you insane? they could go into a permanent vegative state and why? to lose a few pounds. a person looking to lose weight doesn't need a swift fix they need a lifestyle change.

oh and how is an Ultra low calorie diet healthy? that's basically starving them. you could do a low carb diet, you could do a low fat diet. but a very low intake of calories will leave them weak and unable to support themselves.

Answer:
This would be a very pricey idea and good luck getting people to agree to this. And what will happen if the person doesn't wake up from the coma? Besides, if they're thin when they wake up, what's going to cease them from gaining weight afterwards? It's a lifestyle change that's needed.

Answer:
Not really, because holding them in a coma would raise the threat of blood clots because there would be greatly reduced circulation.

Answer:
I think you've got way too much time on your hands!
