and it still hurts like hell to walk. Has anyone else had the same.

i had a total left knee in 6/15/09. two days in the hospital. therapy after two weeks. i walked in three weeks with a cane. in a month i was back in the gym, but being very careful. i took my last pain med 9 weeks after surgery. i think the knee will tweak a little forever, but all serious pain was controlled by using vicodin. the pain takes a long time to go away. physical therapy was a great help, but the therapeutic message of the back of the affected knee was very uncomfortable. i,m 62, and weigh 240 lbs. i still won,t do forward leg lifts by machine in the gym. i am planning some 30 mile bike rides this spring.
Answer:
i sleep with a small pillow between my knees. oddly enough, sleeping on a six inch thick air mattress on the floor(my kids house) eliminates the need for a pillow. my pillow top mattress is more comfortable with the small pillow.
