I’ve recently been watching modeling programs and i have noticed that they have to have cold showers?!? why?

what’s it meant to do too your body?

Does it help you loose weight or something?

Answer:
Cold water boosts circulation. (Warm water makes the blood rush to your skin, and cool water makes the blood rush to your organs.) Another benefit is that cold water makes your blood vessels constrict which reduces swelling and the appearance of dark circles under your eyes (where skin is at its thinnest). Basically cold water gives you healthy glow. Or so the source below says…

And it's really refreshing!!

Answer:
Wow.. I've never heard of that. The only thing I could think of as to why some people might take cold showers is to keep their hair shiny. Cold showers wouldn't help you lose weight, because when you're cold your body tries to keep those fat cells and might even trigger more to form. Hot water opens your pores, allowing you to scrub the dirt and impurities off of your skin superior and deeper, so cold water definitely wouldn't help them look better. Cold water does not open your pores, does not kill bacteria as well, and definitely does not help you lose weight so I can't think of any reason why they would. Hmm.

Answer:
I did not know they did.

What I noticed when I’ve a cold shower, is that my body seems “regenerated” like in there’s no sweating after the shower and if the temperature is cold, I feel I have the ability to warm up better.

This is not a scientific explanation though. Once a Dr. told me he knew it was good but he wouldn’t do it.

Answer:
well, models also wear minimal clothing in the winter and this DOES help them lose weight in a sense. The more you shiver the more calories you burn. It very well could be a part of taking cold showers.

Also, hot water does dry out your skin and hair probably 90% more than cool water or cold water.

Answer:
I'd think their “philosophy” is that is slightly cools the bodies core temperature, ie. the circulatory system has to work harder to re-warm the extremities and the bodies larges organ — the skin.

The temperature decrease and duration are not likely to net great results and cooling the body any lower is potentially perilous. I'd stick to good old fashioned exercise instead.

Answer:
Cold showering increases blood flow to the skin, so makes your complexion much clearer and brighter - lol well that's the theory anyway…

and I've heard that some models do it in order to suppress hunger, so I suppose it is linked to weight loss, yes… :)

Answer:
Maybe its because their so hot hahaha ok lol that was corny.

But how do u know their taking cold showers? did they state it?

Maybe its just a coincidence.

Only thing i know about cold water when it comes to ur body and ur hair is that it closes pores, so that can be one reason.

Answer:
Hot water opens up your pores and hair follicles, and cold water makes them close. Cold water makes your skin appear tighter and your hair shinier. I think it's the opposite for stretch marks though, lol. Heat makes stretch marks blend in more. Plus cold water is good for waking you up.

Answer:
Increases your metabolism and supposedly helps prevent muscle soreness.

Edit: And if you get in your covers afterward, you become unbelievably comfy, i'd advocate it just for that.

Answer:
lool..probably taking advice from the inuits.. they live longer and have healthier looking skin as they eat plenty of fish and the cold reduces the function of the bodys cells..making things go slower.. i think thats right anyway.. but dont bother..cold showers suck !

Answer:
their judges/coaches are testing them to see if they have the ability to be in extreme weather in this case cold water and still work their body and be fierce and strike poses.

Answer:
No, it's just to physically test yourself and for enjoyment. it's probably just reluctant. hey, i do that too.

Answer:
because hot water makes your body get wrinkly nd if they take hot/warm showers, they will get wrinkled nd won’t be able to model anymore

Answer:
i no this

when cold water goes on your skin it gives your skin goosebumps, this causes your skin to tighten therefore makin you look thinner ]

try it

:-)

Answer:
If they’re modelling for a shower company then yes, because the steam from a hot shower would condensate on the camera lense.

Common sense really!!

Answer:
Its a great way to temporarily tone the skin - splashing freezing cold water on the boobs has a temporary life effect!

Answer:
what I've read it's because when they’ve cold showers their body needs to get warm again and it's like a diet, doing exercises they have the ability to loose weight…

it's something like that :P

Answer:
This is just a guess, but hotter water's supposed to be more harmful to your hair and skin.

&cold water leaves your hair shiny…i think.

I hardly think cold water would help you lose weight.

Answer:
