It's mainly in the leg and buttocks.
Answer:
I had sciatica in summer 2006 and doctors told me there was nothing that could be done about it; just wait until it goes away. It took me over a year before it totally went away. About 3 or 4 months before I could walk properly again and 1 year before I could feel anything in my toes. Hopefully, it'll take you less than that. It really is a painful experience.
In the mean time, try to keep your leg and buttock warm (bath, hot water bottle, etc…) Best of luck!

Answer? Excercise - honest….walk plenty and do some excercises…
Lay on bed tummy down… lift you top half of body up with hands (placed at shoulder level) bend back as far as you can (keepin tummy on bed) and hold for 3 seconds..then relax.. repeat 10 times. Next go doggy style - on all fours hands and legs same distance apartthen keep hands in same place, and place your bum between your legs to stretch your back. strech hard - then relax - 10 times.
Next stand nr something thats about the same height as your waste (kitchen surface maybe) - stand comfortable and move your crotch in and out (like your humpin somethin) so it slowly tho!
This helped me loads and im back to doin my daily things….

By residual, do you mean you have had surgery?
"Slipped discs" push against the nerve root and cause "sciatica". Technically , the proper name is radiculopathy. The sciatic nerve is not the problem.
If you have had surgery, you may have scarring trapping the nerve root. If you have not, there are several options to try before surgery. Get to your doctor.
Answer:
I have the very same problem at the moment I do hope you are feeling a bit better. I have had 3 children but have not felt pain like Th's before. I can't believe it may last for months/years, and as for exercise there is no way I can even move without excruciating pain. I keep moving my legs as much as possible as I have had a P.E before and am frightened to death of having another blood clot.
Currently on Diclofenac and paracetamol but find myself counting the hours to my next dose as the small relief only lasts a few minutes.
Please tell me it does go away. Finding it hard to even get the kids uniforms washed for tomorrow!!!!
