When I bring my nails down (like to grab hold of something) they make a really loud cracking noise. It's really irritating and nobody else I know has this problem. It doesn't hurt, it's just really annoying

That's pretty strange Ive never heard of that one before. If you drink a lot of coffee that can cause brittle nails which could cause them to snap, it may be that your nails are really thick - try using a nail strengthener to stop them snapping.
