My son is emigrating to the USA next week to marry an American girl after they marry within a 3 month period (visa requirement) he can go on her company health care scheme.
Before this though he seems laid back about going with no health care this seems very worrying to us is parents.
What happens if the worst happened and gets taken to hospital would they not treat him at all, would they treat him and get a large bill.
What would happen.
We have recommended he gets travel insurance to cover him for aleast 90 days till he gets married would this be a good idea.
Any other recommendations about short term health cover would be appreciated.
Answer:
If you're worried about it you might as well get some temporary insurance as 3 months really isn't that long. How old is your son and does he have a history of illness?
Personally I wouldn't worry about it, as it only for three months and only matters if something really bad happens. Many of my friends in the US don't even have health insurance, even though they’re only in their 20s.
Answer:
They would give him life-saving treatment, but he would still have to pay a large bill. Treatment that’s not necessary to save his life will not even be administered without insurance or payment upfront.
Answer:
is he marrying her because shes an american?
