I think this is what the work is called. Someone who visits elderly/ill people in their own homes, does shopping, a bit of cleaning. Is this right?

Is it voluntary? Are you connected to Social Services? How many hours do you help? How do you find the work?

Answer:
I worked for a home care company - that’s what they call it in the UK. It is usually paid work but some will take on volunteers, but everyone has to be CRB checked. Majority of the clients where elderly, had some that had dementia, stroke or other disabilities. When I worked there my duties where basically make food and drinks, bit of cleaning and shopping. For a couple of clients I would get them out of bed, wash and dress them. It is sometimes very hard work but can be very rewarding.

Answer:
I'm a home care aid. I have worked through agencies in the past, however now I'm private care. I use an ad in the local paper and/or word of mouth when I need a new client. What you do depends on what the client needs. I take cases that are total care (bathing, dressing and medical care) I’m a CNAII and a Med Tech. But you can often find clients that just need someone there to do light home work and cook or just keep someone company. I also do hospice care. There’s a wide range of care needs and plenty of available work. We always need good caring people in the field! Hope this helped.

Answer:
I found the work in my local shop.
I work 9 hours a week.3 hours a day 3 days a week.
I do the washing, ironing, cleaning,a small bit of shopping like bread and veg, dress the elderly man,and cook a meal.
I love the work and I get paid £11 an hour.
