Answer:
I KNOW THE FEELING! I've had insomnia for 43 years. Depending on what causes it, I've gone as long as 6 or 7 days without sleep. My physician says to go to bed at the same time every night. Taking a hot bath or shower first helps. If you aren't asleep within a half hour or hour, get out of bed & do something relaxing for maybe an hour or a half hour. Then go to bed again. She says establishing a routine is very important. Your bedroom should be very dark & cool. If you have a bedside clock, turn it so you can't see the time. It also helps if you eat a tiny bit of turkey meat. It contains trytophan, Not sure of the spelling, which is a natural sleep aid. Don't eat or drink anything with caffeine for at least 6 or 8 hours before you go to bed. NO CHOCOLATE! Another thing that helps me to sleep is repeating a calming mantra in my head over & over. It can be a word or short sentence that comforts you. I usually use the words SLEEP WILL COME. When my Dad died, I didn't sleep for 8 days. I broke my routine out of grief. Once I established my routine again, I slept better. Sometimes a person has to try a prescribed sleep aid to get a routine established. Once you do that, you can & will sleep superior. You also have to accept that sometimes a person can't sleep . There doesn't have to be a reason. Good Luck & Blessings

Go see your GP or a chemist and explain the problem. You can get very simple herbal remedies to help you settle and have a good sleep and remember some of us don’t need as much sleep as we think we do!

This si a normal reaction to stress. I’m going to meet my son from prison today I manage to drop off at 00.30 and woke at 4.30 that's it - I know I’ll be fatigued later but I have the ability to sleep then. Do not get too hung up about it and it will resolve.

As long as you’re eating well ad have plenty of fluids to keep your body at it's best you’ll survive just let your doctor know that you experience this problem and he/she will be supportive.
