An anti inflammatory medication like ibuprofen would probably be the ideal. It will reduce the inflammation and take away the pain.
If this doesn't improve in a few days you should seek medical attention.

Put an ice pack on the back of your neck. Leave it there for 15 minutes. Have 5 minutes off then ice it again for 10 minutes. Another 5 minutes off, then put heat on it (a hot water bottle is ideal) for 10 minutes.
Most headaches and neckaches are caused by nervous spasms in the neck. This technique stops them for hours and has no side effects (except frostbite).
