i woke up today and my neck was killing me, then i tried to swallow something and it hurt too. hurts now anytime i swallow, i have deep heat on my neck sort og helping but not really doing anything to my throat still sore when i swallow.

I'm sorry but the only way you can find out what's wrong is to see a doctor. He can perform direct exam and order treatment if needed. The symptoms you describe can be related to many other things, some that are scary causing undue anxiety. The physician has to look down your throat and take a swab of any infectious material. Be careful with answers you may receive in this forum, some might range from mono to cancer. See your physician!

There is an outbreak of mumps in my sons school.
And yes we do have mmr vaccine but there is still an outbreak so a visit to your doc might be in order.
