today at school this boy in my class was playing and everything. when we sat down because the lesson started he was holding his stomach for no reason. i thought that he was teasing us. a few minutes later he was on him knees crying from pain. what might have happened to him? i know for a fact that it was not his appendix because the appendix is on the right and he was hurting on the left. i felt so bad that i couldn't help him. when i grow up i want to be a doctor and i do a lot of research about sicknesses and stuff so i can usually help someone which needs help….this time i couldn't.
what might it be? it was a sudden pain on the left bottom side of his stomach. he stated that he couldn't breath as well.
thanx for the help:-)

Answer:
First of all dont be so hard on your self. Even the ideal doctors have trouble diagnosing on the spot! Its fantastic that you’ve aspirations to be a physician and are working towards your goal already.

As you know your stomach, spleen and descending colon are situated on the left hand side. The pain could be a symptom of many things. Hopefully it was just a bad case of wind or it could be gastroenteritis. The breathlessness could be because he was scared and anxious.

A good Physician involves a lot more than a quick diagnosis! even though that does help of course. Its also very important to work on communication skills as well as medical knowledge.

Good luck!.

Answer:
the ideal idea if he isnt back at school tomorrow is ask a instructor or one of his best friends how he is. do you know where he lives? maybe you could call round to see how he is and find out what was wrong.

Answer:
It might have been an iritable bowel or gas attack. Acute distress may be caused from food posoning also. I am sort of sure it wasn't a ruptured splenic artery.

Answer:
constipation

Answer:
It could have been appendix, the pain from that starts on the left, how do I know I've had my appendix out!

Answer:
hard to say-tummies can be tricky.

could have been gas pains-these can be sudden and sometimes severe enough to cause you to double over in pain.

might have been his appendix but usually if it's an appendix, it's a gradual pain that starts out small on the left then ends up traveling to the right side where it becomes very severe.

without seeing test results such as blood work, xrays,etc-nobody on here will be able to give you a definite answer

but my guess is just some nasty gas pains if he was fine one second then in pain the next….
