Hi my nan is going to come out of hospital soon and she’s terminally ill with cancer which has all ready spread the hospital is going to get in touch with social services and get some care in. However they did she is going to need 24hr care and im not having her go into a home. Can anyone advise me on what type of things to ask for they are worried about her going to the toilet during the night as they said it was taking 2 nurses to do that, she is getting a sore on her bum anything anyone can think of me to ask for would be much appreciated. i know this is going to be hard work i already look after my grandad and have had a lot of experience in care homes any advice will be great thanks
Answer:
hospice and social services will help you. in the meantime make sure that you keep her bum clean and dry, keep the bedsheets straight and wrinkle free, turn her from side to back to side each two hours, and “do not massage” the area. try Medicare.gov. don't wait until your nana comes out of the hospital, speak to the hospital social worker now!!
Answer:
the social worker will give you options. They can’t force her to go into a home.
If she wants not be treated at home then they’ll provide carers for her. you could even apply to become a carer for her.
Answer:
Hospice could help. But i think they only help people who are going to die within the yeear. Get people to help you. Or higher someone to look after her when you cant.
