I'm 14 and I keep getting sharp pains through my chest area. I've been to the doctors before and they listened to my heart and said they heard a murmer so they then sent me for a x-ray of my heart but the results came back and it showed there was nothing wrong with it. The pains are getting worse and come about 7-10 times a night. I don't know what’s wrong and because the x-ray was clear my family think i am pretending. !!
Has anyone experienced anything similar and what happened ?
Or is anyone a physician and knows what it could be ?
Answer:
I think I might know what you’ve. It is very difficult to diagnose because it is rare. I've had it since I was very young. Let me describe it first to see if I'm right about this.
It hurts for about 10 seconds and you cant breathe in. It feels like knives and if you try to breathe in the pain gets worse.
If thats what’s bothering you, you might have costochondritis. Don't worry. It's not as bad as it sounds. Basically… it's arthritis in your sternum. The joints swell up for a second making it hard for your rib cage to expand. It's not fatal in anyway. It's just inconvenient. If you want to learn more about it go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tietze's_sy… (its also known as Tietze's Syndrome). Next time you go to the physician, ask them if that is what you may have. I've had it since I was 10. It's a pain but I just hold my breath until it passes.
Hope that helps!
Answer:
I had the exact same effect/pain that you did! I can't believe your family thought you were pretending, mine just immediately believed me.
Well, I did. And I had to be in hospital for 5 whole days! I had anemonia, but I don't think that's your disease. I had such hard time trying to breathe and sleep at night it just hurts. My chest pain hurts on my left, so every night I had to sleep on my right. Yeah, when they did the heart X-ray, but mine actually showed something. I had muscle pain and anemonia. The X-ray did show something, but when the physician checked my breathing with a stethoscope, she stated everything was normal. Confusing, isn't it?!
Answer:
I experienced the same thing. There is a sharp pain in my chest. I told my mum about it and we go to a hospital for a check-up. The physician said it's just muscle pain, but i don't think so because i can really feel it's not just a muscle pain. They gave me a pain reliever but it didn't work. Then, they inject i think a pain reliever again and then a few minutes, the pain is already gone. They ask my age, i told them i am 17, and they stated i'm still young to have a heartache. I also had a cough in that time and find it also hard to breath.

That doesn't sound good at all. Maybe you should get a second opinion. Also, show your family the answers that come back. Since you've asked on here they'll probably take you more seriously.
If they still don't believe you go back to the doctor and explain that the syomtoms are still there so there must be something wrong. Hope you get it sorted out.
Answer:
do you get the pains when breathing in and out? this could be due to some muscle strain or such.
do you get the pains worse when you lie down, eat spicy foods, drink caffeine……this could be due to inflammation of the lower oesophagus. Or could be a hernia.
if this is the case you’ll need to refrain form spicy foods and caffeine, alcohol. And you need medication such as Lanzoprazole.
hope this helps
Answer:
I wonder if it is indigestion. It may be that you eat before going to bed, or perhaps you have your meal in the evening raTHER than in the daytime.
You will feel this especially if you’ve white bread or pastry / cakes or a large meal. Try eating earlier, and having a glass of cold milk before you go to bed. (not icy cold milk, just fridge cold) I hope this will help.
