i have massive pores on my face and when i apply foundation it just seems to sink in to my pores and instead of a nice smooth look i end up looking like a dartboard !!!
Answer:
Same problem here, 'cept I'm oily as well as a dartboard. Fabulousity.
Anyway, I find that applying an oil-control toner and moisturizing your face before applying your foundation helps a lot. Make sure your face has dried from the moisturizer before putting anything on.
Use a gel formulation for your foundation, like the ones by Maybelline. A creamy formula would just accentuate the pores, and a powder formula always makes it look caked on. Apply your foundation with a clean sponge, or if you're in a hurry, with your clean fingers. Set your makeup with a dusting of loose powder.
Or if you really want to accomplish a natural, dewy look with your makeup, look for a tinted moisturizer instead. Laura Mercier has a good one, check it out. It beats a lot out of foundation, and it's much more suitable for younger skin.
Good luck!
Answer:
I would recommend investing in an oil-controlling primer such as Cargo's Blu-Ray mattifying primer. It is a silicon base that gives your makeup something to adhere to giving it longer lasting results. Another great product is Benefit's Dr. Feelgood.
One other recommendation is to not apply your foundation heavily throughout your face. Most of us tend to have redness in the center of our faces. Start by focusing on your problem areas, blending outward and set with a translucent powder.

Answer:
try a powder foundation instead of a liquid one, and always use a tiny, apply, and then work in some more.
btw, you start with dotting on forehead, chin and cheeks and then work your way in a circular movement to the outer parts of the face.
good luck.
Answer:
Warm water opens pores, and cold water closes them. So I wash with warm water and cleanser and rinse well with cool water. I then apply a good moisturizer to even out the skin. Then you can apply a foundation.
