Vaseline. Dip the mascara wand into a pot of Vaseline and then apply it your eyelashes. It also makes your lashes grow longer and lengthier.

I used to work as a makeup artist and I NEVER saw a pair of lashes that didnt curl. The ideal secret is to use waterproof mascara. Waterproof mascara is the ONLY kind that will hold a curl. Great Lash with the straight wand is ideal. Also, use a tissue to get rid of the glob of product at the end of the wand when you pull it out of the case. Most mascara brushes carry too much product. You want to apply two or three coats for the ideal look.
The only eyelash curler worth using is Shiseido. Its made of metal and has a silicone pad. Ive tried plastic curlers and heated curlers but the only good one is the one from Shiseido.
You curl the lashes before the mascara. You start by pressing at the base of the lash. Dont press too hard. Then slowly walk the curler out along the length of the lash, curling the length at several points, to achieve a true curl, not a crimp.
Follow with waterproof mascara, using a tissue to wipe off the outer part of the brush, so that most of the product is nestled deep in the brush. Good lashes are time consuming, but the people who sell mascara dont tell you this.
Answer:
I find if you put the curlers too close to your eyelid, they wont curl so well.
Make sure you put them nearer to the end of the lashes, hold for quite a while and then apply your mascara.
It doesn't always hold, but it's better and really opens your eyes!
