once a year my dad gets face ache. It starts off in his head, then moves to his ear and then on to his face. he gets it each year without fail, he controls the pain with pain killers until he gets to the doctor for anibiotics which gets rid of it, any ideas what it could be and what could be causing it.

poor chap.i sympathize with him as i have suffered with neuralgia since i was 8 i am now 65 and each year it returns,only now it is more frequent.there’s no permanent cure.it is linked to i think the herpes family.i just have to go to bed till the worst has gone,and take neurophen.wish him well.john.

Difficult to state without more information. Does it occur at the same time of year? If so, maybe it's weather related, or something to do with pollen.

Frankly, if the doctor doesn't know, there's not much hope for the rest of us.

possibly a hypochondriac. maybe he has worms in is head, tumor, bot fly……..more likely he is just paraniod and wants the meds.

could be anything but an xray and physician should be able to tell you
