I am currently a bit hyper and just very recently i have started to have like fleeting thoughts of hurting myself but instead of feeling down by them i feel really excited and enthusiastic about them.? like its a great idea. I havent ever had this before .
one friend said she gets them and its normal (she isn’t bipolar), but i am not sure.
i get images of me skipping to a forest and excitedly hanging myself from a tree. But i dont feel actively suicidal or anything…?
can any one help? xx

Hi.
Anything new needs to be told to your main care provider. If they do not know, they have the ability to not help. I personally do not like the word normal, it insinuates if it isn’t normal then it must be abnormal.Bipolar itself is a very complex mental health issue and I hope you get some help with your latest issues. Never ignore anything that does not feel right to you. Learn to have faith in that inner voice, it is usually right. If you felt comfortable with it then you would not have asked the question, so that nagging voice is letting you know that you should mention it hun. Good luck.

I've been having them recently… I keep imagining “a beautiful death”, with me holding a .357 magnum standing over the edge of a cliff, and putting a round through my head so I soar down the cliff, then again I'm suicidal so I guess it's normal.
I also have thoughts about recording myself sitting by a tree on a beautiful sunny day, or on a still full moon night with the .357 magnum, reciting the poem “I have a rendezvous with death” and then shooting myself at the end.

I’m Bipolar Rapid cycling, I’ve started to get these thoughts in the past year and have acted on them, they begin with just thoughts and then you feel a massive pull towards doing them. The problem is you can get these in depressive says and thats when it all gets a bit out of hand.
I would mention it to your Psychaitrst, I have told mine and she has given me some new medication.
I hope this helps - you can email me on yen_sabai@yahoo.com. As a fellow sufferer, we might be able to help each other.

I would highly suggest you tell your physician, you can’t ignore these signs. For the safety of family, friends, and yourself, please let him/her know.
Best wishes
Jimmy.

See your physician, this could be serious. Get counselling ad make sure you take your medication, or get new medication if the current one isn’t working for you x
