Hi, Im Dayna, 12 years old. I did make this question before but for some reason it got deleted… anyway, on school nights I get into bed at 9:00 but lie in bed for ages and don't actually fall asleep until about 11-12, which results in me being tired and grumpy in the morning! Its really getting on my nerves. Things I have already tried are ; counting sheep, having a shower before bed, drinking a hot drink before bed, listening to calm music in bed and reading before bed. Help?!?!?!

Answer:
Physical activity during the day, non 3 hours prior to bed.Select classic music with no words same one every night, clear mind of all thought and listen to that music same time each night after a while you’ll sleep within minutes also, calcium in the 1500 milligrams will cause sleepiness. melatonin also can help a great deal. These two supplements will make a BIG difference.Ask your parents to get them from the health food store and ask your health food store for other natural remedies. these helped me.Might you find your blissful sleep dear!

Answer:
sleepytime tea :) and if you’re just lying in bed, don't! Get up and do something till you are ready to drop, then go to bed. If you stay awake in bed wanting to sleep, a bad pattern of lying in bed and not sleeping will develope. You have to make a bedtime ritual…get some tea that promotes sleep..not plain tea, some herbal tea with chamomile, lavendar, you get the idea. And go sit in a chair or somewhere, reading something really resting or dreamy, or watch a peaceful kind of movie or show then when you feel your eyelids begin to lower, hop in your bed ( make sure it's comfy!) and think of relaxing happy stuff. Not what you're going to do tomorrow, not what you already did this day.
I had a really bad sleep problem. Spent weeks on the couch training that bed was for sleep, couch for reading, watching TV. Got myself some new PJ's and sheets, use a good fabric softner so the sheets smell nice..made bedtime a treat instead of a stressful time. It worked! I hit the bed now and am out like a light. good luck.

Answer:
Hey Dayna, since you're only 12, I would suggest something simple. When you read at night, try not to read things that you love, rather read something that would bore you to sleep - course books help!! If the book is interesting, you’ll not be able to go to bed.
Now, since you're 12, I would not recommend working out too hard. Instead, play some sports that takes a lot of physical exercise. Do something that you can enjoy with your friends and yet tire you so much that it'll make u sleepy at night.
I used to be the same. I’m older than you so I run regularly, It makes me feel great and surprisingly tired as well. Oh and on weekends if I go to the mall (and spend hours walking around.haha) mann I sleep like a baby that night =)

Answer:
OMG!
im exactly the same, im always late for school too :(
ive also tried all those things to no avail, sometimes i just stay awake all night but i suggest going to the physicians, try asking for some very mild sleeping pills?
night nurse?
:)

Answer:
Talk to your parents about getting you a physician appointment to discuss this issue with a professional. I think you're kind of young to benefit from any recommendations of medications on a forum like this.

Answer:
Do homework before sleep or read somehting before sleeping ; it tires the mind and hence your body would need to rest; thus you would be able to sleep superior
