When you close your eyes how come you cant see the inside of your eyelids?

You kind-of can if you shine light onto your eyelids when your eyes are shut. They appear reddish/orange because of the blood vessels in them.

But if there’s no light shining on them, it's just too dark to see anything. It's not like there's much to see anyway! And even if there was something to see on the inside of the eyelid, it would be too dark, too close, and too blurry to decipher what’s was.
