Hey I'm 39 weeks pregnant and due next fri and I was wondering if it would be ok for me to have a few glasses of asti martini tonight seen as it valentines day…I've had the ocassional wkd..probably 3 during the whole pregnancy…but was wondering if having a few glasses of wine tonight would cause any problems with my baby considering she is fully developed…any advcie welcome…save the nastyness tho thanks !
Answer:
alcohol can still affect your baby even though its full term but not as much. the guidelines are that you are allowed 1-2units once or twice a week and wine is usually about one unit per small glass so i think 1-2 maybe even 3 glasses shouldnt hurt
have fun
please dont listen to the people saying you will be a bad mum because you are drinking whilst pregnant, thats rubbish think of all the mums who are alcoholics or get drunk whilst pregnant THEY are bad parents not you. i have had the odd glass of wine and alcopops whilst pregnant and my baby is fine i would never do anything to harm my baby and im sure neither would you so take no notice of those uninformed, ignorant narrow minded people.
Answer:
ALCOHOL GOES INTO THE BLOOD SYSTEM OF YOUR BABY THE SAME AS YOU! do you want your baby to pass out drunk??.. cuase it can happen hunny!!!
read up ……
no you should not!!!!!!!!!!!
Answer:
If you have waited this long to drink why not wait another week. You don't want to jeopardize anything now do you.
Answer:
I would NOT do that!!!
Answer:
didnt your doctor tell you not to drink while your pregnant? the baby and you are still connected through the umbilical cord, so what food and drinks you put into your body still go into the babies system. you shouldnt drink at all- that is one of the things you stop doing when you get pregnant. why not light up a smoke or joint tonight to?
Answer:
probably not, I think even some midwives recommend it in the final days of pregnancy to relax… a few though? I would be careful only because alcohol does pass on to the fetus, she/he may get a little tipsy.
Also drink lots of water since alcohol dehydrates you.
Answer:
Refraining from alcohol is always the best choice, but a glass of wine isn't going to hurt anything. I definitely wouldn't recommend having more than 1, and definitely nothing stronger than wine.
You should definitely call your OB's office and ask them, since they know your pregnancy best.
Answer:
I would say one or two is ok, but no more then that, because even though your baby is pretty much fully developed, its brain will continue developing untill it is an adult so drinking now can cause baby to become 'addicted' to alcohol.
It also gives them a higher chance of becoming an alcoholic later in life
Answer:
eeee… tough one. I would say a glass or two is ok, but if you haven't had alcohol in nine months you will probably get tipsy after one…. your baby will feel what you feel so go easy on it if you decide to.
Answer:
I would really highly recommend you refrain from having anything to drink…… your baby gets everything you consume, and i would assume you would not give your newborn a glass of wine…… It's really just not a good idea, you should be more worried about the babies health rather than having a nice glass of wine. Have a nice glass of cider…… or apple juice, your right at the end….. so soon enough you will be able to drink as much wine as you want and not effect your baby.
Answer:
One glass tops, I would say if you really really need to/want to. But I'd recommend waiting. Only one more week to go. I know it sucks when special days come up, but baby is still worth it. I turned 21 and was pregnant, lol. Anyways, save tonight's drinks and a big bottle champagne for when baby is born would be my advice. Good luck, you can do it!
Answer:
Geez Please stop NO .. during the last 2 weeks the baby develops lungs & puts more fat on itself. & the babys body cant handle alcohol at any amount any day before or after birth. It can cause mentak disorders & abnormalities . By Gods grave all will be fine but please dont drink u will many many more Valentines day in ur life but may be a few babies.
Do all u can to avoid anything which in any slightest remote possiblity can harm the baby . U have the resposibilty of a life in ur hand his/ her future depends on u .
god Bless & good luck .
Answer:
Any alcohol consumed during pregnancy can harm the baby's development. Why not have sparkling cider instead? You can't undo what you've already done with past "weekends" drinking, but you can abstain for the rest of your pregnancy anyway — you don't have that much longer to wait. The developmental issues caused by drinking during pregnancy aren't always obvious and they don't always show up right away; they can present themselves as learning disabilities when the child reaches school age (from mild to severe); memory or ADHD problems; being prone to illness and asthma among many others. Please think about what you're doing.
Answer:
it should be alright ,1 day before my baby was born i craved a drink and it was he only time during pregnancy that i did
Answer:
personally i wouldn't if u have 2 question it dont do it x
Answer:
I would advise not to, think about what your told, what you put into your body goes into the baby, do you wanna give your baby a few glasses of wine. Please dont your baby is more important then the wine right. Hold off. please.
Answer:
well i think u would be better off givin it a miss tonight. u have only got 3 weeks max to wait untill u can have a drink. if u happened to go into labour tonight because of the alcohol in ur system would affect what pain relief u would be offered. so really its not worth it. plus ur baby isn't use to alcohol so might make it react different ie slow down movement, heartbeat increase/decrease. just think about the first time u had cider and what happened, i can remember it as tho it wa yesterday what an awful feelin. put valentines night on hold for a few week and make a night of it then
good luck hun soon be over xx
Answer:
it should be ok hun, but its up to you i mean this in a nice way its your baby not ours so do what you feel is right for your baby and your self
Answer:
No amount of alcohol is safe for your baby. There isn't any definitive research to show what the effects of just a couple of drinks will have on a fetus at your stage of development. In terms of chemistry, alcohol is a poison. It is reasonable to assume that any toxin in your system will alter the course of cellular development in your child. Bottom line is, do you really want to risk harming your child?
Answer:
Don't drink, just wait and then if don't breast feed you can drink what you like. I am 22 weeks pregnant and am tee-total, it can be hard but you feel better in yourself, now I'm giving alcohol for good anyway, I have never felt so good and I don't miss it, good luck, think of the tiny baby xx
Answer:
Just the one would be fine .. just one mind
Enjoy your evening! x
Answer:
A glass or two of wine would not really have any ill effect on a baby so late in a pregnancy. I had the occasional glass of wine during both of my pregnancys and my children are perfectly healthy. As long as you don't overdue it…enjoy!
Answer:
Alchohol is not o.k. at any time during a pregnancy. You need to see the kids with fetal alchohol syndrome out in the world and you wouldn't ask the question. I have adopted 2 FAE babies and life is tough for them. Don't take the risk and wish that on your child.!
Answer:
u should not be a parent. i dont care wat day of the year it is YOU DONT DRINK WHILE UR PREGNAT. go ahead. but when your baby has some sort of defficiency, dont call me.
u have a blessed day.
Answer:
I don't think this is a good idea. Alcohol has a devastating effect on the unborn, no matter what stage of pregnancy.
It amazes me though how many people firmly state that "anything you put in your body goes directly to your baby" and they are worried about a little alcohol being directly given to their baby…. but think it's okay to take pain meds during childbirth!!!! HELLO…. you just said everything you take goes directly to your baby!! No drug is safe either, no matter what the doctors tell you, there is always a consequence to pay when you ingest something, or inject something into your body while pregnant that is not supposed to be there, or is not healthy for you.
Answer:
No Way!
Answer:
FYI everyone, doctors tell you that 1 or 2 glasses of wine, (small glasses) does your baby NO harm, so bring on the thumbs down but go for it, just small ones and no more than 2 and all will be fine
Answer:
Your baby will be fine, couple of glasses of Asti isn't going to hurt it, a couple glasses of Vodka would be a different story! Enjoy your valentine's day (it will be your last peaceful one for a while!!) x
Answer:
It might just give her the incentive to put in an appearance on VALENTINES DAY.[what a present that would be]
Go for it, it won't do you any harm. It's not as if you intend getting drunk
edit;
sally c is a sensible lady, it WON'T do you any harm to have a couple
