How Many PPL does it actually happen to??? How many ppl do you know who it has happened to and at what week of pregnancy????? Reasons??? Thanks
Answer:
Still births and neo natal deaths happen for various reason.
It could be that the placenta wasn't working properly, the mother or baby may have had an infection. High blood pressure, pre eclampsia and eclampsia can all be fatal to moms and their babies.
In later pregnancy, if the mother is left to go too far over her dates, (likes weeks over) then the placental function can decrease to the point where it's perilous to baby.
It could be a genetic abnormality. My mother lost her first two kids due to a genetic problem. I also lost a tiny girl at 24 weeks. I got an infection which led to septicaemia, this put me into premature labour and my little girl didn't survive.
And sometimes, as someone else stated, there’s just no reason for it. A post mortum could be done and they might not find anything at all wrong with the baby.

My sister in law lost her baby boy at 27 weeks into the pregnancy, Due to a placenta abruption, this is wear the placenta comes away and the baby is starved of his oxygen supply. The amount of stillbirths Is actually higher than we realise, i suppose statistics are not made common knowledge, unless you look for them. I think major factors that contribute to still births are to do with the placenta eg/ a tru not, It usually has something to do with the oxygen supply.

Answer:
We had a stillborn baby boy in February. I was 23-25 weeks along depending on what dates you believe.
The doctors never found the cause .. but suspect it could have been due to a little tear where the cord attached to the placenta. I fell on the ice about 3 days before we found out he was gone. No one will ever know for sure.
We went in for a well baby exam and she could not detect his heartbeat. I was sent to the hospital for an ultrasound and was told that he was gone and i would have to deliver him.
After a 21 hour labor my baby boy was born looking completely healthy and normal .. just tiny and sleeping.
