I was just wondering why some pregnant woman get that dark line down the middle of their belly's? I don't have one.. im 27 weeks.. I'm just wondering.

No rude answers please :)

Answer:
Its called the linea nigra and it is caused from the hormonal changes in your body.

Not everyone gets it, but the ones who do, it goes away shortly after the baby is born.

26w 5d pregnant with a precious baby girl. I asked a question similar to this not that long ago.

Answer:
it's called Linea Nigra
well, i am 34 weeks pregnant and i was also wondering about the same only last night.
just found out on wikipedia that it might related to lack of folic acid. i know we need to supplement our diet with more iron/folic acid in pregnancy. so that does make sense.
also i am aneamic during this pregnancy and my linea nigra is very dark, unlike my first pregnancy where my iron level was fine.

Answer:
I've always heard that the darker skin you have, the more likely you’re to get a linea nigra.. I'm 23 weeks and don't have one either and I bet I won't get one… I have a pretty good sun tan but I”m not a “dark skinned” person normally.. My best friend was pregnant last summer and she has a really dark complexion and her linea nigra showed up at about 24 weeks.

Answer:
the person who said that darker skinned people get it…although fair skinned people are less likely, it's still possible. I'm so white people mistake me for a vampire and i got linea nigra. it's thought to be caused by a lot of estrogen. apparently taking folic acid makes it less likely to get it. It usually appears in your second trimester up to the beginning of the third.
after birth it fades slightly but can sometimes never disappear

Answer:
The line on your pregnant belly is called the linea negra. This line is caused from hormones in your body. It may be darker or lighter than others but is usually always present. It will fade after you give birth. I’m 30 weeks and have a faint one. You’ll probably get one later on in your pregnancy.

Answer:
it's just your bodies way of reacting to the hormones. All pregnancy symptoms are related to hormones.

Answer:
melody is right, you may not get one at all ive had 3 kids and didnt. it seems to be more common in darker skinned ladies for some reason…

Answer:

Answer:
skin pigments changing i think. i never got one either.

Answer:
it is where the muscles start to separate because your baby needs so much room. It will go away after the baby is born.

Answer:
