i had a check up at the hospital ….they were checking to see if my baby was engaged and the midwife said she had noticed that with black women their babies dont tend to engage …sometimes till labour starts ..i wonder if anyone else has been told this ..my midwife is black by the way

Answer:
I wouldnt say she was a fool like the first answerer….midwives see a LOT of babies born and they do notice things…also different races are built differently…who knows? I dont…but I wouldnt just dismiss her thoughts.

Answer:
Your midwife is also a fool. The race of the baby has nothing to do with labor. I am black, witnessed many black, white AND Asian births. Amazed at the things some healthcare professionals say.

Answer:
I dont no Sorry But Good luck anyhow xx

Answer:
I have never heard that, but I seriously doubt it…if that's true, what does it mean for me? My baby is half black-half white! =)

Answer:
I have bi racial (black and white) babies and they engaged like white kids I guess…lol…I've never heard of this!!

Answer:
I wouldn't've thought it was a fact; probably just something the midwife happened to have noticed - could be anything from weird scientific phenomena to total coincidence - probably the latter. I wouldn't take it seriously, and to be fair, I doubt your midwife does either, really. =)

Answer:
i cant see that is true weather u are black white pink or yellow the human body is the human body surely ?

Answer:
Thats rubbish

Answer:
That sounds like a load of crap to me, your ethnic background does not determin when the baby will or will not drop. I have however heard of people saying that their 2nd 3rd and so on babies do not drop until labor or right before labor.

Answer:
personally i dont believe it.

colour has nothing to do with it.

baby engage when they are ready to.

i know people who were pregnant with white babies and they didnt turn till there contractions were like 4 minutes apart!

Answer:
I'm with Jennifer on this one, lol!

Answer:
it doesn't sound like it's true, but she is a midwife so she has seen her fair share of births. but on the other hand how on earth can it be true? i mean it doesn't matter what skin colour you have you have your baby like anyone else does it really matter if it engages faster or not as long as it's healthy.

good luck
