I'm currently 23 weeks and 3 days pregnant with a tiny girl. At my dating scan, it wasn't recorded where the placenta was laying. I had my anomaly scan at 20 weeks and 4 days, and in my notes, the sonographer noted the placenta was 'anterior', which from my knowledge means it is at the 'front' of my uterus as opposed to the back? Will it still be in the same position now? I read that it may prevent kicks being felt as strongly due to its position, but i've been feeling her kick all over the place, except the left side of my body lol. I know this might be a stupid question but oh well. Thank you.
Answer:
Mines also Anterior, the midwife told me that this would stop me from feeling hard kicks and could also mean my boyfriend won't feel our daughter kick
I do occasionally feel her kick at my sides but my boyfriend never there when she does that LOL.
There’s no need to worry about the placenta been anterior they only worry if it's anterior and low which they would have told you. I don't think it can move as it's attached to either the front or back.
I'm due on 19th December with my daughter Lacey I can't wait
Good Luck
Answer:
When I was pregnant with my first one, complete placenta previa was detected at my 20 weeks scan. I had a c-section booked but my OB told me that it was “just in case” because the placenta might move a bit up to the end of the pregnancy. In my case it didn't and I don't really know how much is a tiny bit but I wouldn't be worried about anything. I don't think it totally prevents kicks being felt, it might depend on how sensitive you are.
Congrats on the baby ![]()
Answer:
It is likely that your placenta is still anterior (to the front) but many women have anterior placentas and continue to feel very powerful movements. It doesn't really matter where your placenta is unless it is low lying, but you can normally hear the wooshing sound of the placenta when the midwife is listening to the baby if it is anterior.
Answer:
A placenta will not 'move' it is attached to vessels in the wall of the uterus.
Anterior is front, youre right there. Hard to comment on anything else as for where your baby kicks that will change as the pregnancy progresses and the baby's position alters.
Answer:
Yeah, it will remain there. Mine is also anterior. It's fine!
Answer:
My placenta is in the front. The doctor did tell me that movements and kicks would not be as strong as they normally would be. Their is NOTHING wrong with the placenta being infront. My physician stated it does not hurt anything
Answer:
not a stupid question the position of the placenta plays a very important role, as long as they are aware and monitor it then all will be well once its planted its there, you just want to make sure you keep asking about it and how it looks with the umbilical cord, nothing to worry my daughters was placed in a bad spot and it started to age at 37 weeks and well needless to state they were going to induce but she decided to make a break for it on her own, which is what they do if they’re in jeopardy, so all will be fine, it sounds like you’ve nothing to worry about, but I do recommend you’ve them keep an eye on it, cause that is your babes source, be determined and annoying you'll be much more relaxed when the physicians get the hint of how serious you want this taken, good luck and huge hugs
