Hi everyone
I'm 6 weeks pregnant and an avid body boarder. I would welcome any advice on whether or not it would be safe to carry on with this. I know it won't be too long before my belly gets the superior of me but, physically, at the moment I don't feel too bad. Not to tired and obviously not showing at all.
If I take a bad wave, however, or can't get out of one then I can get dumped pretty badly and thrown about underwater which can result in bruises or some pretty hard knocks. It does happen unfortunately and just wanted to get your thoughts on this sport and pregnancy.
Thank you all in advance.
Answer:
If it's something you were doing it's fine to continue now that you're anticipating. The primary concern is not letting your body get over heated or your heart rate to fast. You'll notice you might get winded easier and feel your heart race if you move at the same pace you did before you got pregnant so I'd suggest you listen to your body and take it a tiny easier if you notice this happening. Your baby is very protected and likely won't get hurt by the hard waves unless you take a hard hit to the tummy so you'll have to weigh the danger against your desire to body board and make a decision about that. If you're safe and take it simple I think it'll be fine.

Yeah its a super good idea to let your unborn baby take a few hard knocks and get dumped pretty hard. What do you think braniac?
Answer:
Speak to your physician to find out her opinion, but it doesn't sound very safe.
