I am away for a ultrasound scan this day, booked by my physician as I’m large for only 16weeks - even if it is triplets.

He says it is just to double check my dates etc compaired to the babies sizes etc… does this mean I might be a tiny further on than first thought?

I had a really light period the month before I missed one, so could it be something to do with that?

For a while I thought I was just getting a tiny chubby - I had/have had no morning sickness or anything just tiredness.

Also my physician said that they might be able to tell me the sex of 1,2 or 3 of the babies.. what are the chances?

Summary of question….

Can doctors really muck up your dates… I have only had one scan before and the babies were even big then

Can a light period before a missed one mean you’ve mucked your own dates up?

What are the chances of finding out the sex at 16 weeks?

Answer:
Well…. prior to my sisters ultrasound they thought she was 20 weeks pregnant & the doctors thought it might be twins but turns out she was almost 28 weeks with one baby! - so yes they can be a long way out!

My sister thought she was only 20 weeks because of a light period too!

I don't know if they can tell the sex until 20 weeks but there's no harm in asking!

Answer:
Yes it is actually possible for the dates to get messed up and it actually does happen quiet often. And actually you can find out the sex at 16 weeks, for singletons it is a little harder because the baby isn't as big as 18-22 weeks but with twins, or triplets you can tell sooner. One of my friends had twins and found out the sex of her babies at 15 weeks and they were right. Good luck and you’ll just have to wait for your scan to find out what is going on.

Answer:
scans are fairly accurate by about a week or so either way, so see what happens at this scan! maybe the baby is large, you will just have to wait and see, also the sex they might be able to tell you but best to wait till 20weeks as its more accurate then, as they have the ability to say its a girl but it could turn out to be a boy as his bits hadnt developed by 16 w. with it being more than one baby it all depends on the size and how they’re facing.

good luck

Answer:
It can be hard to estimate the date.

Answer:
hi, congrats on ur triplets!! wow ur gonna be busy lol

sounds to me like u might be about a month further than u thought the light period could have been implanting bleeding, which would have been a little more than a singleton baby as u had 3 of them burrowing in lol… but at the first scan u had if they told u dates then based on measurements that would be right, u will be more massive with having 3 of them in there, and u never know one of them might end up being 8lb while the other 2 might only be 6lb! a friend of mine had twin boys last year and one was 5lb 6oz the other was 9lb 3oz!!! she was a lot more massive than the lady she went to a pregnant with twins group with who was also due the same day as her!!

at 16 weeks they should be able to see if they are girls/boys, but depends on how they are laying.

good luck with the rest of ur pregnancy and the very ideal of luck to u when they arrive!!!

Answer:
Its highly unlikely you can tell the sex at 16 weeks but then Im no doctor so if your dates are wrong and its more 20 weeks which you may be then you probably can but they are never definate. My husbands ex fell pregant with her new partner around the same time I did with hubby(thats another story) was told she was having a girl, done the nursery for a girl bought for a girl told everyone a girl and yes you guessed it… it was a boy!!!

my guess is you may have been pregnant before with the sound of your last period. My mum had all her periods throughout her pregnancy with my younger sister so it might be likely. Its very hard to tell how far gone you are without exact dates of things happened. for example you might of had sex on the wed at home 2 days later at the supermarket check out the magic starts to start its not instant for the egg to implant itself.

oh yeah 3 babies… wow thats astounding well done to you and your partner, I so want another one

Answer:
Yes, physicians can definitely mess up your due date. I work in an OBGYN clinic and also at a birth center and I've seen it done a million times. Due dates change constantly. Usually, they are only a week or two off, but it's a very good possibility that your due date is going to change. Many women also experience a light period before a completely missed one, so this can also effect the due date status. And you can tell the sex(s) of the babies at 16 weeks. So good luck with finding out the sex(s), and your correct due date!!!
