Answer:
its good to start drinking raspberry leaf tea about 8 weeks before your EDD because it TONES your uterus for labor, making contractions more efficient. its useful for helping labor to be quicker and easier, but not for inducing it. it does not soften the cervix, try semen for that. some midwives will use evening primrose oil to ripen the cervix. a good tea to drink to induce labor contractions is Jasmine tea, white tea is best since it has less caffeine, but any tea with natural jasmine will do. even smelling natural jasmine, as in aromatherapy can help.
try massaging the backs of your ankles where it indents in, on either side of the main bone on the back of your ankle. find the sore spots and massage in a circular motion, this can sometimes help start some contractions.
if the baby isn't ready, its likely that these things can all help but not necessarily be magical, the baby will come when it is ready. good luck! and try the jasmine, it tastes fantastic. ![]()
Answer:
There’s no evidence to show that raspberry leaf tea will encourage labour to begin-its a complete myth. However, studies has shown that it will tone up the uterus and thus speed up the second stage of labour and reduce forceps delivery.
so basically it does nothing to induce labour but helps tone the uterine muscles ready for a quicker labour once you begin..
Answer:
theres nothing that will help bring on labour.sex & walking are just myths aswell. just let nature take its course. also the pains you felt was probably the baby slipping further down in2 your cervix & getting ready to be delivered.if you really cant stand the wait then ask your midwife to do a sweep the next time you see her. it involves her examining you &playing around with the neck of your cervix. i had 1 done on my second child &had the begin of pains 5 mins after the sweep. he was born 9 hours later
Answer:
I too am 39 weeks pregnant and have been drinking Raspberry tea as was told that could help induce labour naturally - but after doing a bit of research aparently thers no evidence that it does, but evidence does show that it does help get through second stage labour as strengthend the cervix or something………..
Decided to still drink the tea tho as cant do any harm and I had first really bad braxton hicks the same night I had my first cup…… might have happened any way but you never know - Good luck!!!!
Answer:
no. nothing works unless the baby is ready to come. i have literally tried everything, raspberry leaf tea..sex…walking…laxatives and i was given cryotec or whatever that cervix pill is FOUR TIMES and the gel once and NOTHING happened. they sent me home. i have to go back sunday. ill be 41 weeks. ugh.
Answer:
It could be braxton hicks, the fake labour pains.. My partner drank that tea til it was coming out her ears it did nothing except made her need to wee ALL the time! Keep drinking it though if you want to because it wont harm you or baby and it might work it must have worked for some people, else where would the theory come from… Good Luck hope its not too long for you now!
Answer:
yes it does but i preferred taking the pills. You can get them from any health food shop.
I used them and it helped my labour immensly. Keep drinking and get the pills if you can.
Another thing I did was sit and bounce on a yoga ball- it helps get the baby in the correct position.
Answer:
I had heard the same thing, but only when labor actually starts. With my son when I realized that labor was starting I drank the raspberry tea, 4 hours later there he was. It seemed to speed up my labor compared to my other son, with him I was in labor for 14 hours. Good luck!
Answer:
Never heard of that one. I would be careful with teas some have been known to cause loose stools. The baby will come when the baby will come but if it is mentally working for you then good luck. Relax.
Answer:
I've never heard that one. Your baby will come when he's ready! Don't force him out….. and if you still want to, do something that's actually been proven to work, like sex or walking….
Answer:
Ditto the first poster….the tea sure can't injured, I'd drink it!
Answer:
Never worked for me but there’s no harm in trying it! Good luck x
