im not pregnant, but i was planning on getting a tattoo on my stomach and i was just wondering.. when im ready for a baby and my tummy grows, after i give birth would my tattoo look different? i mean obviously it would stretch but would it go back to normal after?
thanks
Answer:
It's highly unlikely your tattoo would be normal again. My stomach is never going to be normal without a tummy tuck. It's like stretch mark city…and even if you are lucky enough not to get stretch marks it's highly unlikely that your skin has enough elasticity to return to it's pre-pregnancy state. I highly advocate not getting the tattoo on your stomach.
I had my first daughter on my 18th birthday and even my young skin didn't recover too well. Now I'm pregnant with #2 and I have a feeling it'll only get worse this time around!
Answer:
Probably not really. Have you ever had a temporary tattoo, and then when you bend your arm and move and stuff it gets all cracked? That's probably what it will look like, unless it's like the size of a quarter.
If you want a tattoo on the front, it would be ideal to do it on one of your hips, not in the middle of your stomach (which would look odd anyways).

My stomach tattoo that was below my pant line is now nearly on my my side. I'm pregnant with my second 2nd child. I couldn't even find it when i was full term the last pregnancy. It went back to normal shape and size after i was pregnant but it wasn't in the exact same spot. more to the sidish

I'm pregnant and have a tattoo on my side/stomach. I have asked many people (doctors, tattoo artists, Moms with tummy tatts) and have gotten the answer that it will go back to normal.
Good luck and congratulations!
Answer:
ive seen some pregnant bellies where the tat stayed the same, i have one on my side and its hasnt changed besides the tiny streatch marks that surround it. My concern are the streatch marks, i wouldnt want them to ruin your tat.
Answer:
I have a tattoo on my stomach.
It was fine up until about the last 2 or 3 weeks of pregnancy.
Now it's distorted and stretched.
It never went back to normal.
Answer:
depends on the elasticity of your skin. I'm 14 weeks pregnant now and have a tattoo going down my right side ( my ribs to the top of my thigh) I hope it does !! HAHA!
Answer:
Hard to state - my stomach went back to normal after my first but I didn't have a tattoo there to see if that was affected. I've seen other stomaches not do as well after though. Its pretty risky
Answer:
No it won’t go back to normal. It will be distorted and retarded. I advocate you not do this.
