do they get you out of the water to stitch you or what happens? anyone knows if a water birth is supposed to minimise tearing?

thanks

Answer:
Nothing happens. I had a second degree tear with my third child in a waterbirth. She was 9 lbs 4 oz and came really quickly (1 hour.) From 8 cm to birth was 4 minutes. I delivered the placenta in my bed. They don't check for a tear until after the placenta is delivered. I stayed in bed for three days with my baby and healed perfectly. If you need an episiotomy, you would have to be in a bed and they would do this because the baby wasn't coming out. You would have to be out of the water anyway. Your perineum stretches superior with a damp, warm cloth, or in a warm bath tub. Water birth is an breathtaking option. Go for it.

Answer:
You’re much less prone to tear or need an episiotomy if you’ve a water birth as the water softens the perineum and makes it stretchier. If you were to tear, it would be as the baby was being born, so they would have you and the baby out of the pool straight away to minimise bleeding, and stitch you up. If an episiotomy really became nessacary, yes you'd have to come out of the pool. (would be difficult to perform underwater, and bleeding speeds up in the water too).

Answer:
Well after you’ve the baby you’ve to get out of the water to deliver the placenta. So when you've delivered the placenta they'll stitch you up.

I don't know if it mimimises tearing. It's mainly used for pain relief, and the gravity of standing up helps speed up labour. As far as I know tearing is caused by too much pushing at the wrong time, or a big baby.

Answer:
I would think that they would jsut leave you unless you tear to like a 3rd degree which is from your vagina to your bottom (sry if TMI). Most times these days they’ll cut you rather than let you tear that much, it is much easier to sew up than a tear.

Good luck:)

Answer:
if you need an episiotomy they’ve to get you out of the tub from what I understand. If you tear naturally I think they can wait until the baby is born to stitch it up or whatever they decide is right for the tear.

Answer:
tearing is due to width of you and the head, not much else really, if you tear of course you'll have to get out and be stitched up.

Answer:
They'll leave you in the pool until you finish delivering your baby and they'll get you out once labour has finished and then they'll stitch you up

Answer:
er you finish giving birth before they stitch you up man

Answer:
The water leaks out of the pool?
