I'm 39 weeks pregnant but haven't leaked any milk yet and just wondering if this is normal as all the other expectant mums I know have been, and last time I was pregnant (nearly 5 years ago) it was coming through from about 35 weeks onwards. I'm really starting to worry I won't be able to feed my baby when it arrives. All the websites and books I've looked at have said its quite normal to leak milk a few weeks before giving birth but none state that its normal not to!

Answer:
Your fine! Some leak some dont! You’ll be able to nurse at birth and milk will come a couple of days later! Avoid nipple stimulation it can bring on early labor!

Answer:
You don't start to produce milk until after the baby is born. What you may or may not leak is colostrum. Each woman is different as is each pregnancy. It is perfectly fine that you haven't started to leak colostrum. It may be there and you don't know it or you may not have it until your baby is born.

With my first pregnancy I began leaking it at 16 weeks. I am now 35-36 weeks pregnant with my second and just started leaking it last week.

Don't worry, it will arrive!

Answer:
hi, not sure if this will help but i had a premature labor recently at 35 weeks and up until then i had not produced any milk once my baby was born within 5 hours i was producing milk the midwife told me some ladies don't produce milk until the placenta is delivered something to do with the hormones produced?

Answer:
When you 'leak', its not actually milk your leaking, as that doesn't come in until about 3-5 days after the baby is born, so I wouldn't worry too much at the moment. The first milk is not the same as what you feed the baby for the majority of the time.

Answer:
This is my 4th pregnancy and with my 3 kids i leaked loads from around 36 weeks but with this one i think ive leaked once so i don't think you’ve anything to worry about but ask your m/w for some advice as they’ll know for sure all the ideal

Good Luck!

Answer:
i had the same problem, i had made the choice to breast feed but after i had him i could never produce enough milk to do it.

Answer:
Dn't worry neither did I - until 3 days after I gave birth. Trust me, when your milk comes in you'll know about it! Be prepared - it HURTS! But it doesn't last long (the pain) you'll be fine.

Answer:
Your milk doesnt come in until after the baby is born. While you are pregnant you can leak colostrum anything from about 25 weeks but dont worry this doesnt happen to everyone! So dont panic! :)

Answer:
firstly the true milk does not come in until 3 days after delivery. Ive had 3 babies and never leaked during pregnancy but successfully breast fed so dont worry it will come

Answer:
I'm 38 weeks 5 days and had no milk either. Not even a little crust!

I've asked this question and everyone said it's normal and that I'll produce milk after the birth.

Answer:
Milk comes in 2 or 3 dyas after giving birth I’m 32 weeks pregnant and I leak colostrum but this does not always happen.

Answer:
I didn't leak anything until after I'd had the baby, so don't stress. Everyone is different

Lactation hormones are usually triggered by the birth experience. Relax.
