my last smp pay is this month but I'm not due to go back to work until August? Will I have to go on income support until I go back?
Answer:
I don't think you'll be entitled to income support as you're technically still employed and are choosing not to go back until August. If you were unemployed then that's a different matter.
You'll be entitled to both working and child tax credits though (which may work out more than income support anyway) .. try this site
http://www.entitledto.co.uk
Put your details in and it will tell you what you're entitled to.
Hope this helps =)
P.S. You won't be entitled to the health in pregnancy or sure start allows as the health in pregnancy one is for babies due on or after April 6th 2009 and the sure start grant has to be applied for within 3 months of your baby's birth and you have to be on certain benefits in order to claim it.
Answer:
There’s a high possibility you will be entitled to income support, you might not be though, ideal to phone up your jobcentre and ask them.
Have you applied for the health in pregnancy grant of £190, all pregnant women are entitled to it, working or not. Ask your midwife for the form.
If you do get onto income support, you can apply for the sure begin maternity allow of £500, also healthy start milk tokens, for things like formula, cows milk, fruit & veg.
Answer:
You’ve to take unpaid leave or use your annual leave you have accumlated while you have been off. Otherwise, you’ll need to go back to work as you wont be entitled to Income Support because you are still employed. You wont be able to claim anything from the jobcentre until you give up your job (if you want to) but bear in mind, that you’ll have to pay the SMP back if you dont return to work for a limited amount of time.
Answer:
I've never heard of statutory pay….are you from the states? I didn't get paid at all while I was on maternity leave. I saved money and my hubby had to cover the rest. I have a friend who is unmarried and pregnant and she is freaking out about how she’s going to pay her bills while on leave.
Answer:
Hiya, if ur entitled to IS then do that, if not, you should be able to use the annual leave u would have accumilated whilst being off, then there's unpaid leave also and there's parental leave.
Hope that helps.
Answer:
What’s preventing you from going back to work before August? Just b/c you Europeans get 9 months off for maternity, doesn't mean you’ve to take it.
Answer:
As far as i'm aware you don't get anything which is why I'm going back after 9 months. You could try to claim benefits - try looking at directgov.uk for more info on finances.
