What is the ’standard’ birth where you live? ?

I live in Staffordshire England and we’ve a midwife who comes out to you to do most of your prenatal care, how does it work in other countrys? And how many scans where you offered during pregnancy and did you’ve to pay? Also do you feel epidurals are offered too routinely where you’re?

I live in Canada and we have prenatal doctors that we go to once a month once you’re about 11 weeks is when we begin to see them. Generally we have 4 or 5 ultrasouds or more but it depends on your pregnancy if there are any complications or if you are a high risk pregnancy. We don’t pay for our ultrasounds it is covered by our government. Epidurals are offered to women who want them, some women try and be brave and fight it as long as they can but not all make it. I'm in the USA and women see a midwife or OBGYN. I got two ultrasounds a 2D and a 3D/4D. The 3D/4D ultrasound was optional (you have to pay), unless the doctor was looking for something in particular like a birth defect, etc in which insurance would cover it. The 2D ultrasound was covered by insurance since my doc ordered that one as well. Epidurals are very common here I'd say…at least where I live.

Most/all of the women I know go to the physician until they go into labor, and then they go to the hospital. And epidurals are fairly common too.
