I've already asked a couple of questions about it a few weeks back but I have another..

Is it normal for my ear to still be a bit swollen sometimes? It's normally when I clean it it tends to swell a bit and go very red, and also when I wake up so I think I might be sleeping on it even though I try not to. I know cartilage piercings can be hard to heal. What other things could affect its healing process?

oh and I got it pierced with a needle not a gun.

Thanksss

Answer:
Yes it is normal for it to swell and become red after cleaning or sleeping on it.

Your piercing is still new and it hasn't had a chance to heal yet.

Bumping into it when you change shirts or brush your hair can also cause it to become irritated and can slow down the healing process.

Make sure you are cleaning it properly.

Answer:
I would take it out. My friend had this and ended up having to go to hospital and getting her ear sliced with a scalpel to get to the piercing. It was horrible and no matter how clean you keep it, it isn’t advisable to have piercings in cartilage. I'm not being a stick in the mud, I've just seen the damage it can do.

Answer:
It Could still be swolen and red when you clean it,

mine didn't do it though but that could be different because I got mine with a gun.

But you have to remember, cartilage piercings can take up to a year to fully heal.

do you touch your ear often, or have things hit it lately?

that could be irritating it, affecting the healing process.

good luck.

Answer:
I got mine done with a gun, but mine did the same thing. I had a bump right by it and it eventually went down. It's been almost a year and it's gone down and everything has healed. It does take a long time to heal, but just make sure and keep cleaning it because it does get infected really easy and really fast.

Answer:
Just give it time. It will be red and swollen sometimes, probably from sleeping on it. Try to sleep on the other side until the redness goes down. Make sure its not infected. Usually it takes only about 6 weeks to heal, but if its still red and swollen it might be infected…

Answer:
sounds like you’ve an infection, perhaps get someone to look at it
