Im 16 and a guy. I would only have a small one on my upper arm or around my elbow. However, i don't know what to get it of. Any suggestions? I don't want it to look gay or anything.

Also, im going skiing on Wednesday, will skiing and exercise such as swimming be bad for the tatoo if i get it tomorrow or Sunday?

Thanks

Answer:
I always tell people that you shouldnt get a tattoo unless it's something that you HAVE to HAVE! Usually people have an image, or an idea of an image that they would like… the rest works itself out…

The Tattoo should represent something, or should be something that appeals to your eye. What I recommend will not necessarily be something that you want.

You cannot swim after you get your Tattoo. You also shouldnt ski right away… these things take time to heal.

Answer:
swimming will be bad….how about your starsign, a chinese symbol or ying and yang?

Answer:
Yeah, 16 years old with no clue of a tattoo means DONT GET ONE.

Answer:
you name in a symbol

Answer:
Avoid the sun for the first week after getting a tattoo, it fades the colors. Also keep it covered in vaseline or neosporin for at least a week.

Answer:
my advice to you is not to get one at all. you can never get rid of them and they can give you cancer. yes skiing and swimming will be bad for the tattoo if you do it right after you get it.

Answer:
hi first of all i think 16 is to young and any place that's worth going to wont do it cause your under age sleep on it for a bit i found out it is going to cost me any thing up to 150 pounds to sort mine out

Answer:
If you don't even know what you want, you should wait to get a tattoo. It's gonna be on you forever so you should take time to decide on something that really means a lot to you… and even after you decide on it, you should still keep in mind for a little bit just to make sure!

Answer:
I suppose an Anchor as it does not offend anyone or it has no name like an Ex Girlfriend. With this you could have a Cross as an added Religeous Symbol. Some People have a Christ Picture, but I think it is extreme. Perhaps an Eagle, maybe an American Bald Eagle. Lay of the Swimming for awhile until it Heals, no sense in undoing the good work.

Answer:
You need to be 18 to get a tattoo, so I think you should wait a while. As the tattooist would be breaking the law and they are more law abiding now than they used to be. I had one at 15 and my granny slapped me straight on it saying I was a silly boy!!! Bloody hurt! Have had 5 more since… Seriously though I'd advise waiting and have a big one for your first, so you wont keep going back for another and another. If you do decide to get one don't swim and keep it covered and well lubricated, Bepantham (think that's how it's spelt) is really good as it's used for nappy rash.

Just don't rush into it, your going to have to wear it for the rest of your life!

Answer:
Swimming is def a bad idea….Skiing could be bad too if you fall and tear the scab…As far as what to get or where to get it….try to imagine yourself being 50 years old with a teenager your age wanting to get their own tattoo….would your tattoo be something that you are proud of….or something that you are telling him….."listen son, you don't want to do this….trust me!"

Answer:
Hi! I dont know, when I was 15 I decided to get a tattoo on my upper arm, and I thought it was the best thing ever for about 3 months, and then felt really stupid about it as it look horrible. Then when I was 19 I got another huge one on my back, and I really like it and have no regrets, as I spent a long time thinking about it and designing it.

Now im 27 and all I can say is I think your a little young to make a really perfect choice for the rest of your life, but just dont get something cheesy like a peace sign, or star sign unless it means alot to you.

Maybe try to design something abstract yourself, and really look into it, but some magazines or look online for a really great design you think will suit you for life! I do think guys with tattoos have an easier time than girls do if they regret it, as it will still make you look cute, just steer clear of snakes and daggers and hearts and the likes!

Going swimming will mess it up quite a bit, and if its on your elbow and you fall skiing, this may affect the healing process. Slick alot of vaseline on it to keep it protected and moist.

Seriously, think about it though!

have fun skiing!! xxxxx

Answer:
swimming yes. chemicals = bad for tattoo. exercise is not bad. you need to keep it moist, and protected. the parlor you go to, if you go to a good one, and not one that will service an underage punk will give you the lotion and or cream you need to use. please get permission from your parents so you can go to a repitable one.

most people get celtic bands around their arms, and they are dudes, and not gay. barring that i'd stay away from foilage that is real leafy and or flowers. in less you are the hard core sort that can totally sport that and not feel insecure. which at your age is highly doubtful. so i'd wait. you could get twining serpants, or briaded thorns, or rope, or bracelet of skulls (if you are a head hunter) you could get some other tribal design. lizards. i know a guy who has a ring of care bears, and he is not gay, pastel colors too! my little pony would be hard core. marching ants? shadow warriors. barb wire. bones. chinese writing. some other writing that is cool. a passage from the bible. some people get spider webs on their elbow, talk is that they are jail symbols and means a feeling of being trapped. i think its gay if that is true getting a prison tat if you aint from prison. just like it is gay getting a sailor tattoo if you aint a sailor. i hate pretenders.

aside from the bands you could just get something that personalizes you. something that means something anything. i dont know you. or if you really want to be hard core, let the artist pick it. be their blank canvas. that is always real hard core. know a couple of people that do that.

Answer:
You should get something that has significance to you. And don't get it wet for the 1st 2-4 weeks i believe

Answer:
Skiing is fine. Any good tattoo artist will tell you bathing/swimming or anything that's going to emerge the tat in water for long periods of time is a big no no for the first 24-48 hours. Showering is fine. Also the chlorine of the pool could irate the healing tat. It's also recommended not to expose the tat to lots of direct sunlight for 24-48 hours. I have 3 tats and this is the info that was given to me every time.

As for what tat to get, that's totally up to you. But I always suggest thinking about it long and hard. And really research the tat place and artist before you get it done. Remember it's going to be on you for the rest of your life. Unless you want expensive laser removal that can leave you scarred.

Also I don't know where you live, but around here you need to be 18 to get a tat or parental permission.

Answer:
Wait till you're old enough for a start, by which time you may or may not have thought about what means a lot to you for you to put on you body.

You will no doubt regret it when you are much older.

Answer:
No it wont hurt it if you go skiing!

Think of something that means allot to you and use pick it

Like im getting the breast cancer symbol because its for hope and maybe a rainbow…

For you my cousin just got a tattoo two days ago and it was of a skull with a rose on top of its head!

Its awesome

Answer:
Isn't 16 too young for a tattoo? Well, I am not sure whether if it is legal or not in your place.

If you are not sure what tattoo you want, do Not get the tattoo. Simple. Tattoos are symbols, they are imprinted on your skin for the rest of your life. Which means, when you are an old man, it will still be there - it will not faded. It may even look stupid to you.

When you are at a time in your life when you feel Real, like this is something that needs to be marked upon you forever, get a tattoo. In the mean time, buy temporary tattoos. You can get them anywhere! Order them on the internet if needs be.

Temporary tattoos are not "uncool". They will personalize you. You can change them often. You could say, "This week, I've got a skull guys." or keep them guessing or something. Don't jump into something which will effect your life. That's not cool.

Furthermore, tattoos hurt a damn lot. Are you sure you want to do this? Do you think you could endure so much pain, the pain of needles piercing your skin more than a hundred times? It paaaiinns! If you're serious about this tattoo, I'm sure you could do it, but if you're not, don't bother going through all that.

Lastly, yes, it's going to hurt a rather lot for you to go skiing in a few days. But if you can do it, do it. If you don't want to miss your exercising, then don't get the tattoo. Get it afterwards. Swimming is a definite No.

Good Luck deciding =)
