Answer:
don't get one unless you are sure, there’s no point and getting something permanent for the sake of it!
Get something that means something to you.
Answer:
Don’t be in a rush to get a tattoo if you don't know what design you want - you should NEVER get one just because you like the idea of a tattoo.
Take your time to look for images of things you like: is there a particular style you like? (Chinese/Japanese, gothic, Art Deco, modernist); Is there a particular subject you like? (Horses, motorbikes, architecture, a type of music or band, flowers). The rule of choosing your design is that there is no rule (yeah, very “Fight Club”) your images can come from anywhere - the web, books, magazines, sketches, postcards - anywhere.
When you've got your ideas, next select your tattooist - research your local area and ask around (tattooed people are usually quite happy for strangers to ask where they’d their work done - honestly). Go into a couple of studios and ask to see portfolios of the tattooist's work. Generally talking if the studio has a waiting list of over a month, it will be a decent studio - people do not wait for rubish but they are prepared to wait for quality.
When you’ve chosen your artist, you can then discuss with them what finished design you want based on your images that you've collected. They should draw up your design for you (usually at no extra charge) and then you have final state on it before you begin getting the tattoo itself applied.
Things to avoid: anything that is particularly “trendy” such as stars, hearts, massive tribal pieces, flash (pre-made artwork displayed in the tattooist's studio - hundreds of thousands of people will have the same thing) , cartoon characters (they look so cute on an 18 year old, but sad and pathetic on a 55 year old granny), anybody's name but a blood relative.
Another thing to remember is that with tattooing you get what you pay for - a cheap tattoo will never, ever look as good and last as well as a more expensive one. Save your money for as long as you can and pay as much as you dare and you will not regret it.
Don't rush into this - researching your artwork and the studio is half the fun! If you take this advice you will end up with a one-of-a-kind and well executed piece of personal art that you’ll enjoy for the rest of your life. Rush into it without any thought and you’ll look like just another teen trying to be trendy with a poorly done “stamp”.
Good luck.

sounds like you are getting a tattoo due to peer pressure rather than personal likes. If you really wanted a tattoo you would have already known what you needed.
You’re not really wanting a tattoo because it means something, but “just to have one” will lead you to get one of the common ones every seems to have (butterfly, something on lower back, round ankle etc) It will mean nothing and just tie you into being another person with a meaningless tattoo.
Wait a while and you’ll know when to get one by you realising you can have a tatto that means somthing to you personally.

Answer:
Don't get a tattoo just for the sake of getting a tattoo. That kinda defeats the purpose of body art.
But hey, when in doubt get a bitchin' tribal with some Kanji characters in it and maybe a celtic cross and family seal motif tied in.
Answer:
Please, please, don't deface your beautiful skin at all - your body doesn't need to be embellished, and your mind is the essential 'you' that should need no 'packaging'. Listen to me, please, and think ahead …
Answer:
Tattoos are very permanent and personal. If you don't know what to get, maybe you aren't ready to get one. I advocate getting a henna tattoo instead.
Answer:
i'd brainstorm this one long and hard.
thing about who you feel you’re, and what's important to you, and then thing about whether or not you want to express this in words or images.
