Hi guys,

Ok, so we had a really bad day this day with my ideal friend. She has a hormone imbalance, was diagnosed about 5 years ago, she’s 22 now.

She moved away with her parents to live abroad and has just come back into the uk again. I met up with her today and was so pleased to see her and I stated she looked great :)

She burst into tears and said she has had really low self esteem and told me to look at her face. Because of the excess hair on her chin, sides of her face and a little above her lip (it was light hair) when she first got this a few years ago, she made the classic mistake of shaving it…….. Hmmmm not a good idea.

It has now resulted in basically, stubble kinda like what men have. You can't notice anything on the upper lip/sides of the face, but under the chin, even when it's been newly shaven, you can see the kinda stubble marks, if you know what I mean?

Just wondering if any other women/beauty therapists/skin experts can offer any advice on how to get this sorted?

She stated the hair grows so swift that she has to shave twice each day otherwise it goes like stubble again. Is there any way she has the ability to rid of this. Let it all grow again and then maybe wax? Or keep shaving more constantly?

Thanks!

xxx

Hey hun.

Well i have a very bad hormone imbalance, i have high testostorone, and quite low oestrogen. But i am on pills to sort this out. They think i have PCOS, which could be the cause of this, but they’re still unsure.

I’ve excess hair, on my face, and on my stomach, not too much, but it is noticeable to me.
I bleech my upper lip, and just use hair removal cream on my chin, i have to do my chin every 4 days! Its awful. I really need help with it, and i am going to ask my physician about nhs maybe, but i highly doubt it!

The other thing is electrolosis, my friend had this done on her face, she had 12 sessions, costing her around £400, and once she had used all her sessions it was all fine, but around 2 months later…It grew back. Which has extremley put me off spending that much. She also bought a laser hand removal device, “tria” Its around £700. And has amazing reviews, used it for 5 months, no difference!

So sorry for your friend, i know absolutely how she feels, its awful, such low confidence its untrue. My boyfriend loves me too pieces though, we havent spoken about it, im not sure if he knows, but i am too worried to bring it up!

Good luck, i think its just removal creams and bleaches.

Answer:
I think the ideal thing to do is wax it but with a beautician who knows what they are doing, and if the hair is that much on her chin then she could get electrolysis. If that’s not possible then she maybe able to get laser treatment, (I don't know if the physician could advocate her, but she could try especially if it is affecting her self esteem). I wish her all the luck. x

Answer:
there’s a way that u can get rid of the facial hair for ever!
LASER its a bit expensive, but ok because her prob is large,, with 5-6 visitings to the doctor(actually not physician, someone who removes hair with laser) she's gonna get rid of the hair

Answer:
The only way out of this is electrolysis. It's expensive but it's forever, and she'll look female again. They’ve laser ones now so she has the ability to do it in just a couple of visits. Good luck.

Answer:
You can purchase personal Laser units from argos and do the treatments yourself. It takes a tiny longer than a professional job but costs only £80 compared to a salon which would be approx £300.

Answer:
she should wax it because wax rips the hair off with the roots so it will take a while for the hair to grow back :)

Answer:
use facial hair remover cream :)
i do & i only use it each week, cause thats only when i need to use it.

Answer:
How about bleechin the hair…then u won't be able to see it

Answer:
i would like to recommend u plzzz go for homeopathic treatment,as it wil try to modify n balance the root of the problem, though it will take time…but it would be a permanent treatment, without side effects.

Avoid shaving go for threading as the hair growth wud remain soft or go for katori wax——–BUT these are just temporary solutions.

Answer:
Laser hair removal - it will permanently remove the hair. She’ll need to have several sessions depending on her hair type but for the long run it's probably the best solution. She should go and talk to a beautician who will explain everything in detail. I know people who have had laser treatment on the face and they’re much happier, there's no stress of constantly having to remove the hair anymore.

She could wax, but it will be more expensive in the long run compared to the laser.

Carry on shaving?? large NO it will make things worse and hair will begin to grow back thicker. Avoid shaving at all costs.

If she needs a short term fix, try hair removal cream. This is more safer on the skin and won’t leave much stubble behind.

I should add that electrolysis only removes one hair at a time whereas with the laser you can do a whole area in one go.
